Six reasons why you’ll want to incorporate this herb into your daily diet

Guys, are you struggling with sexual performance issues?

High cholesterol levels?

Or poor bone health?

If you’re anything like most men, you probably feel embarrassed talking about these issues, which makes improving your health and wellbeing a daunting task. Especially with so many products available on the market today.

Sifting through these options and finding the right treatment can be time-consuming, costly, and often involves trial and error to find a solution that works for you. No wonder it’s easier to ignore it!

If left untreated, your symptoms could escalate and leave you susceptible to poorer overall health as well as feelings of anxiety and depression.

In our last post, we highlighted the healing powers of Fenugreek. This week we’re continuing by adding Horny Goat Weed to the list of ingredients you should have on your radar.

What is Horny Goat Weed?

Horny Goat Weed, also known as Barrenwort, grows on hillsides and cliff crevices at higher altitudes throughout Southern China as well as some neighbouring Asian and European countries. It produces violet, red, light yellow, and white flowers with oval fruit.

The plant’s name is said to have originated from goat herders who observed their herd becoming sexually active after consuming Horny Goat Weed. This herb has been used in ancient Chinese Medicine for over 2,000 years thanks to its antioxidant properties and wide range of health benefits.

Let’s take a closer look at Horny Goat Weed’s use in today’s Western Medicine to treat a range of health conditions:

1. Bone health

Ageing leads to all kinds of unpleasant health conditions, including osteoporosis.

Osteoporosis generally affects men aged 50 years and over. This group contributes to one-third of hip fractures worldwide. So it pays to take care of your bones early on to prevent damage later on in life.

The active ingredient within Horny Goat Weed icariin was found to enhance the healing of bone fractures while showing the capacity to reverse bone loss and strength reduction in patients.

2. Muscle growth

For the gym junkies out there, Horny Goat Weed has shown positive effects on lean muscle production. This muscle production is due to the active flavonoid, icariin, which possess neurotrophic effects that assist with the growth, development, and function of neurons.

Antioxidants within Horny Goat Weed have also been shown to assist the body in the secretion of proteins which helps athletic performance, tissue repair, and recovery speed.

3. High cholesterol

Keeping your body healthy is essential, yet taking time out to look after yourself is often last on the list.

Neglecting the basics of healthy living such as exercising regularly, limiting alcohol intake, not smoking, eating healthy, and managing stress levels can all result in an increase of cholesterol.

Cholesterol is a type of fat which circulates through your blood. When low-density lipoprotein (LDL) carries too much cholesterol, plaque begins to build up. This build-up can create blockages as well as increase your risk of developing heart disease or stroke.

Icariin, the powerful flavonoid within Horny Goat Weed, has proven effective in the treatment of a variety of cardiovascular diseases. Treatments include the prevention of plaque buildup within the arteries, where it lowers lipids such as cholesterol and triglycerides.

4. Hardening of arteries (Atherosclerosis)

Cholesterol and the build-up of plaque can also lead to diseases such as Atherosclerosis, which is the main underlying cause of cardiovascular disease (CVD). This build-up of plaque within the artery walls causes them to narrow, which over time restricts the flow of oxygen-rich blood throughout the body.

At times these fatty plaques may even break open and form blood clots (thrombus).

Icariin within Horny Goat Weed has shown to exhibit antiatherosclerotic actions, suggesting Horny Goat Weed is beneficial in alleviating the hardening of arteries.

5. Coronary heart disease

Coronary heart disease is the most common form of heart disease, affecting over 165,000 New Zealanders. That’s one in every 20 Kiwi adults.

This life-threatening condition causes narrowing or hardening of the arteries which supply blood to the heart. If left untreated, this can result in angina, heart attack, or cardiac arrest.

Unfortunately, the risk only increases with age.

Antioxidant properties within Horny Goat Weed are proving promising as an antiatherosclerotic drug, harbouring potent cardiovascular protective properties. These include the ability to reverse the effects of the disease through smoothing and relaxing internal muscle tissue and shifting the body into rest and restore mode.

6. Sexual function

Finally, Horny Goat Weed is most well known for its aphrodisiac effects and helping improve the sex lives of those living with erectile dysfunction.

The flavonoid within Horny Goat Weed, icariin, works to prevent dilation of the arteries within the penis, working to increase blood flow to the three tubes within the penis to support stronger erections.

New studies have shown Horny Goat Weed to be a safe and efficient aphrodisiac for treating those with erectile dysfunction. The Ancient Chinese herb is also boasting similar effects to Viagra with fewer side effects.

Aphrodisiac, antioxidant, and a powerful healing herb

As you can see, Horny Goat Weed has long been used to treat a wide variety of health conditions. It’s also a natural, safe alternative to over-the-counter prescriptions for assisting with sexual performance issues so you can perform at your best.

Hence why we use Horny Goat Weed in our unique formulation, providing a holistic and natural solution that supports your overall health, wellbeing, and sexual performance.
